April is National Stress Awareness Month. Stress is something we all deal with. But sometimes, it can start to feel like more than we can handle.
Signs Your Stress May Be Building
You might feel tired all the time. Small things may feel harder than usual. You may feel on edge, overwhelmed, or like your mind will not slow down. For some people, stress can also show up in the body, like headaches, trouble sleeping, or a racing heart.
When stress keeps growing, it can start to affect your daily life. You may find it hard to focus, keep up with responsibilities, or stay connected to others. This is often a sign that it is time to pause and check in with yourself.
What You Can Do
There are small things that can help in the moment. Taking a short walk, stepping away from your phone, or slowing your breathing can give your body a chance to reset. Talking to someone you trust can also help you feel less alone.
But you do not have to handle everything on your own.
If stress starts to feel like too much, it may be time to reach out for extra support. Even stress or anxiety is a valid reason to talk to a mental health professional. You do not have to wait for things to get worse.
Netcare Access is here 24/7 to help. If you or someone you know needs support, you can call our Crisis Phone Line at 614-276-CARE (2273) and speak with a trained counselor. You can also call or text 988 to reach the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Reaching out may feel hard, but it can be the first step toward feeling better, faster.
