May is Mental Health Month. It is a time to remind people that mental health is just as important as physical health.
But many people still are not sure what mental health support actually looks like. Some worry that asking for help means something is “seriously wrong.” Others may believe talking about mental health will make things worse.
The truth is, support can look different for everyone.
Sometimes support means talking to a trusted friend or family member. Sometimes it means meeting with a therapist, joining a support group, or learning new ways to cope with stress and anxiety.
For others, support may include crisis services, peer support, or short-term stabilization during a difficult time.
You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable to ask for help. Reaching out early can help people feel more supported, connected, and understood.
If you or someone you know needs support, Netcare’s Crisis Phone Line is available 24/7 at 614-276-CARE (2273). A trained clinician is always available to listen. You can also call or text 988 anytime to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
