Critical Incident Stress Management services respond to the needs of emergency personnel or individuals within other organizations such as public schools, law enforcement and fire agencies who are witnesses or victims of a traumatic event, and need assistance dealing with the aftermath.
Specially trained mental health professionals provide interventions, debriefings and consultations to those experiencing unusually strong, emotional reactions as a result of a critical incident. Discussions are designed to accelerate recovery and minimize the stress of exposed individuals.
The Critical Incident Stress Management team has responded to the following types of incidents:
- Line of duty deaths and serious injuries
- Natural disasters
- Suicide of a co-worker
- Multi-casualty incident
